A Distinction Pathway is an advanced academic and professional development program designed for highly motivated pharmacy students who wish to excel in specific areas beyond the standard curriculum. This unique opportunity allows students to tailor their education to their personal interests and career goals, gaining specialized knowledge and skills that set them apart in the field of pharmacy.

- Specialized Focus: Students can choose from various tracks that align with their interests, such as industry, research, or interprofessional healthcare.

- Recognition: Upon successful completion of the Distinction Pathway, students will earn a “Doctor of Pharmacy with Distinction” designation on their academic transcript, highlighting their commitment to excellence and specialized expertise.
Distinction Pathway Choices
Distinction in Industry is ideal for students who wish to become leaders in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical sectors. By completing required coursework in drug development, regulations, and cross-functional collaboration, you will graduate with expertise in functional industry roles. Experiential activities include presenting at national conferences, interviewing industry professionals, and serving on mock P&T committees.
Distinction in Research pathway imparts the capabilities needed to drive scientific advancement in pharmacy. After developing a research proposal, you will put your learning into practice by conducting an independent study under faculty guidance. The pathway hones proficiencies in study methodology, data analysis, scholarly writing, and clear scientific communication to research-focused audiences.
Distinction for Excellence in Interprofessional Healthcare recognizes students who have demonstrated a commitment to interprofessionalism (IP) by collaborating with other health profession students across our university campus. Students who engage in this pathway participate in IP experiences at our community health clinic, unique electives, formal team-based training and research activities.
