Discover a Diverse, Involved, Close-Knit Community.

Campus life is a priority at RFU. We believe a strong community and activities beyond the classroom are critical to your wellbeing and success—as a student and eventually as a professional.

How—and Why—Our Students Get Involved

If our students' high levels of participation and involvement are any indication, they clearly agree that campus life at RFU is engaging and important. There are many reasons to get involved on campus, but here are a few of the most common:

Gain Leadership Experience

This helps prepare you for your career. RFU's 80+ student organizations and more than 1,000 student-organized events each year provide plenty of opportunities to get involved, get practical experience, and have fun. (And if you don't see a good fit for your interests, start your own organization!)

Embrace Diversity

Celebrate the diversity of the RFU community and broaden your perspective through everyday interactions on campus and dozens of student-run organizations and cultural events. One of RFU's largest annual events is Diwali, a celebration of food, dance and culture organized by SAMA (South Asian Medical Association). In 2015, the event drew over 500 students, faculty, and staff.

Recharge Your Body and Spirit

Take advantage of our free fitness center, in classes like yoga and zumba, by joining an intramural sports team, by unwinding with a game of FIFA in our TV lounge, or by taking advantage of programs like our dog therapy days. We recognize that graduate school can be stressful so we encourage our students to create balance in their lives, caring for themselves as they're learning to care for others.

Extend Your Interprofessional Experiences

Go beyond the classroom by living on campus or just getting involved. Most RFU students spend lots of time on campus, providing multiple opportunities to build friendships with students across disciplines and further the conversations and team-building we promote through our Interprofessional approach to education.

Hone Your Heart for Service

Get additional hands-on experience through 20+ community service organizations. Just as Dr. Rosalind Franklin had a deep commitment to social justice, our faculty, students, and alumni are known for devoting their time and skills to helping others. (A great example of this is the Interprofessional Community Clinic, founded in 2013 by four Chicago Medical Students.)
