Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) is offering either a Partial or Full Academic Pathway program in collaboration with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). RFUMS’s Lifestyle Medicine and Nutrition programs allow students earning a MS or certificate in health professions education to meet some of the requirements to achieve lifestyle medicine board certification at the same time.

Both ACLM and RFUMS pathways satisfy a portion of the prerequisites for ACLM certification.

Partial Academic Pathway Details

With successful completion of HLSM 500 (Introduction to Lifestyle Medicine) or HNUT 510 (Modern Nutrition), students earn a waiver for the 20-hour CME prerequisite for the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine certification exam.

  • This pathway saves time, travel and costs, speeding you to ACLM certification.
  • Eligible health professions programs include nursing, physician associate, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse practitioner, dietician, public health and others.

Full Academic Pathway

RFUMS is designated as one of three universities that offer a full academic pathway in collaboration with ACLM. Students in this pathway fulfill the education prerequisites for ACLM board certification during their educational journey.

Completion of HLSM 500 (Introduction to Lifestyle Medicine) and the Foundations of Lifestyle Medicine Board Review Course (within HLSM 690 courses) satisfies the prerequisites for Lifestyle Medicine board certification specific to health professions students and eliminates the need for 20 hours of live CM plus. 30-hour didactic CME/CE through the Foundations of Lifestyle Medicine Board Review course.

  • Prepare to sit for the ACLM Board Certification Exam at a fraction of the cost of doing so outside the pathway.
  • Be eligible to sit for the ACLM Board Certification Exam upon graduation.
  • Eligible health professions programs include podiatry, nursing, physician associate, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse practitioner, dietician, public health and others.
