  • April 2026: Dr. Paige Arneson-Wissink’s two recent papers are published: “Impaired Adipose Anabolism in Pancreatic Cancer Cachexia Is Reversed by HuR inhibition” in J. Cachexia Sarcopenia Muscle and “Interleukin 6 drives durable T cell-mediated immunity to pancreatic cancer” in Cell Mol Gastroenterol Hepatol.
  • 3/18/26: Congratulations to Dr. Arneson-Wissink for receiving her R00 award to support her research on "Elucidating the role of hepatic ketogenesis in pancreatic cancer cachexia and recovery"!
  • 3/9/26: We are delighted to welcome Dr. Paige Arneson-Wissink, who joined our center as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, starting 3/9/26. Paige earned her B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry from University of Wisconsin-Superior with the Summa Cum Laude honor. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from Mayo Clinic and completed her postdoctoral training in the Department of Radiation Medicine, Brenden Colson Center for Pancreatic Care at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) before joining RFUMS.
  • 12/15/25: Congratulations to Dr. Lee for his paper being selected as the University of Texas Southwestern Department of Molecular Biology Paper-of-the-Year award. As part of this award, Dr. Lee has been invited to return to Texas in March 2026 to present a departmental talk.
  • Nov. 2025: Dr. Chai’s lab recently published two papers: “In vivo investigation of STN1 downregulation in melanoma formation in adult mice following UV irradiation” in PLoS One. Her postdoc Vikas Gaur contributed to the paper “DNA2 and MSH2 cooperatively repair stabilized G4 and allow efficient telomere replication” in Nature Communications.
  • 7/14/25: We are delighted that Dr. Jong-Sun Lee joined our center as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, starting today. Dr. Lee obtained his BS and MS degrees from Baylor University and his PhD degree from Mayo Clinic. He completed his postdoctoral training with the HHMI Investigator Dr. Joshua Mendell at UT Southwestern Medical Center before joining RFU.
  • 1/1/25: Congratulations to Dr. Chai on her new R01 award for the project "Molecular modulator of RAD51 in maintaining genome stability". This 5-year award totaling $1,887,613 will continue supporting Dr. Chai's research on understanding the molecular mechanism for protecting genome stability and drug resistance.
  • 12/10/24: Congratulations to Dr. Michael's lab most recent publication in the journal NAR Molecular Medicine titled "Systematic deletion of symmetrical CFTR exons reveals new therapeutic targets for exon skipping antisense oligonucleotides." https://academic.oup.com/narmolmed/article/1/4/ugae017/7884020
  • 2/13/24: Congratulations to Dr. Chai's lab most recent publication in the journal Nucleic Acids Research titled "Human CST complex restricts excessive PrimPol repriming upon UV induced replication stress by suppressing p21". https://doi.org/10.1093/nar/gkae078
  • 2/5/24: David Mueller, is co-corresponding author on the paper: "Conformational ensemble of yeast ATP synthase at low pH reveals unique intermediates and plasticity in F1–Fo coupling" in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology. (https://rdcu.be/dxP3s). This was a collaborative study with investigators from Harvard Medical School with funding from NIH, R35GM131731, to D.M.M.
  • 2/5/24: David Mueller was also chosen, for the fifth consecutive year, to review NIH Pioneer Grants. As stated by NIH, the Pioneer award "supports scientists with outstanding records of creativity pursuing new research directions to develop pioneering approaches to major challenges in biomedical, social science, and behavioral research."
  • 1/31/24: Congratulations to Dr. Wren Michaels on her new award from The University of Michigan Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the project entitled "Discovery and Development of RNA Therapeutics for Cystic Fibrosis".
