Ziemowit Mazur is a physician assistant (PA) specializing in internal and family medicine. He joined the University in 2010 and has been a full-time faculty member since 2012. Since 2014, he is the Associate Program Director of the PA Program.
He earned his MS in Education (Higher Education Organization and Leadership) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and then completed his PA training at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS). As he began his teaching career he received a Certificate in Health Professions Education and is now working toward his PhD in Interprofessional Healthcare Studies at RFUMS (expected 2020), while still working clinically at Rosalind Franklin University's Health Clinics. He enjoys volunteering at the Interprofessional Community Clinic, a free primary care clinic for the underinsured and underserved population in Lake County area.
Ziemowit is a site visitor for Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and serves as a peer-reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (JAAPA). Through the Illinois Academy of PAs (Board Member and Chair Public Relations Committee), he was an elected appointee to the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) House of Delegates (2015-2017). In addition, he is faculty at Kaplan Medical, preparing students across the United States for the PANCE (PA certifying exam).
In 2014, he was honored as the College of Health Professions Outstanding Teacher and in 2017 as the College's Outstanding Educator.
