Lauren B. Angelo, PharmD, MBA is the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science College of Pharmacy. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy and MBA degrees from Drake University and has a variety of patient care, teaching, and research experience relative to community pharmacy practice. Upon completion of her community pharmacy residency training with Kerr Drug and the University of North Carolina, Dr. Angelo joined the faculty at Butler University where she developed a clinical practice site to offer disease management services in a grocery chain setting. She was later hired as the Director of Clinical Operations for an independent pharmacy in Indianapolis where patient education and medication management were the primary focus.
Dr. Angelo subsequently moved to the DC area to work for the American Pharmacists Association.
As Senior Manager of Education Programs, she was integrally involved with the development and enhancement of live continuing education programs offered nationally to pharmacists. From here, she transitioned back to academia with the University of Maryland to focus on clinical initiatives in community practice, as well as abilities-based coursework and pharmacy practice experiences for the students.
Dr. Angelo received the 2010 AFPE-NACDS Pharmacy Faculty Development Fellowship in Community Pharmacy Practice, which allowed her to collaborate with independent pharmacies to implement medication therapy management services. In 2003, she was recognized as the Distinguished Young Pharmacist in Indiana. Over the years, Dr. Angelo has taught pharmacists throughout the country to be immunization providers. She is the author of the first and second editions of APhA’s Immunization Handbook, which has become a valuable and widely-used resource for immunizing pharmacists. Dr. Angelo has recently joined the team of Associate Editors for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association.
