Dr. Kenneth Tomchik grew up near Boston but has lived in the Chicago area since high school, later graduating from the University of Chicago. After four years working as a research lab technician, he began medical school at the University of Illinois followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital. Since residency he has practiced primary care general internal medicine for thirty years in a small town. For the past twenty years he has taught medical assistants, nurse practitioners and medical students. He has been awarded the Golden Apple for excellence in teaching medical students twice. He is eager to bring his solo small-town physician perspective to his role as a learning community mentor.

When he has time, he enjoys tennis, ballroom dancing and woodworking.
