John Becker, PhD
Dr. Becker joined Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 1986, and has been at Rosalind Franklin University since the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine affiliated in 2001. He received a PhD in physiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Oak Ridge National Labs, then taught biology at Knox College and was a faculty member in the Knox-Rush Medical program. His research areas were cold adaptation of ion transport and metabolite transport in cancer cells. Dr. Becker has also taken courses in Loyola University’s Masters program for higher education leadership. Dr. Becker formerly served as a department chairman and an associate dean for Scholl College. Currently, he is the course director for the Structure and Function class, teaches in several other university courses. He served as Principal Senator of the Faculty (2005-06) and served as Faculty representative to the Board of Trustees (2011-2013).
