Abbie Lyn Lyden, PharmD
Abbie Lyden, PharmD, BCPS, joined the Department of Pharmacy Practice as an Assistant Professor in August 2012. She currently practices as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, where she also serves as a preceptor. Prior to joining the university's clinical faculty, she practiced in the surgical and medical intensive care units at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. After graduating from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 2006, she completed a residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Brigham and Women's, she led the implementation of pharmacy services in the emergency department. In the intensive care units and emergency department, she has been active in the clinical education of students and residents, and lectured as an adjunct faculty at several pharmacy schools. Additionally, she has served on various hospital and national committees, including the University of HealthSystem Consortium and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. Through her clinical research, Dr. Lyden has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles, reviews, and book chapters. Her research concentrations include emergency medicine, particularly in evaluating the impact of clinical pharmacists on the reduction of medication errors, toxicology, and critical care.
