Emergency Medicine PGY-2

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The resident will be responsible for direct patient care to emergency medicine (EM) patients at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The high-volume, high-complexity ED populations at this tertiary care center allow for a challenging and rewarding learning environment. Electives will be available in a variety of other patient care environments to develop a well-rounded EM practitioner. In addition to clinical practice experiences, the PGY2 EM resident will have the opportunity to engage in academic activities, which include IPPE/APPE precepting, scholarly activity, as well as didactic and simulation- based instruction at the University. The resident will also conduct research projects and engage in leadership development.

Research

The resident will engage in research and scholarship to advance the practice of emergency medicine during the residency year. This includes a primary residency project and a quality improvement project.
