Application Requirements
In addition to the university’s minimum requirements, applicants must meet the following admissions requirements:
Education
- Graduate (masters or doctoral) degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher education completed prior to application as an advanced practice nurse, including Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Anesthetists, and/or Nurse Midwife.
- Have graduated from an accredited advanced practice nursing degree program.
Transcript
- Final, official transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended, even if a degree was not awarded or expected.
Prerequisites
- Applicants must have completed three separate comprehensive graduate-level APRN courses across the lifespan in:
- Advanced physiology/pathophysiology, including general principles that apply across the life span
- Advanced health assessment, which includes assessment of all human systems, advanced assessment techniques, concepts, and approaches
- Advanced pharmacology, which includes pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapeutics of all broad categories of agents.
- Applicants who are missing any of these three courses may take them at RFU or another accredited university.
Licensure
- Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse and APRN in the United States, its territories or protectorates. (CNSs may not be required to be licensed as APRNs in restricted states.)
