About the Program

University affiliated community based program providing comprehensive hands-on, evidence based and cost effective interventional cardiology training across a broad spectrum of patient population (based on gender, race, socio-economic status and ethnic diversity). Program offers ONE new fellowship position every year for this one year program. The training site is Mount Sinai Hospital (an inner city hospital providing care to racially diverse patient population with low socio-economic status). Mount Sinai Hospital is a 400 bed tertiary care hospital with level I trauma care facilities, has active cardiac surgery program and serves as a referral site for interventional cardiology to several community practitioners and hospitals. MSH has an active interventional cardiology program with state of the art catheterization laboratory facilities, providing 24-7-365 day interventional cardiology services to treat ST elevation myocardial infarction and other cardiac emergencies. MSH performs over 1000 procedures annually; over 400 PCI’s and treats over 50 STEMI patients annually. MSH is accredited by the Society for Chest Pain centers and participates in the ACC National Cardiovascular Data registry (NCDR Cath-PCI). Program offers broad based training Coronary and peripheral intervention, meeting or exceeding ACGME program requirements for interventional cardiology fellowship training. Program highlights are dedicated full time faculty, hands-on supervised training in complex cardiac pathology and high volume case load. Fellows and faculty are actively engaged in scholarly activity with ongoing clinical research opportunities.
