Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

About the Program

University affiliated community based program with emphasis on providing evidence based and cost effective cardiovascular care across a broad spectrum of patient population (based on gender, race, socio-economic status and ethnic diversity). Program offers 3  new fellowship positions every year and has three training sites: Mount Sinai Hospital (an inner city hospital providing care to racially diverse patient population with socio-economic status),  Federal Health Care Center (a Department of Defense/Veterans Administration hospital providing care to active duty personnel and veterans) and Holy Cross Hospital (A community Hospital on South Side of Chicago). Program offers broad based training in clinical cardiology, non-invasive cardiology and invasive cardiology, meeting or exceeding ACGME program requirements for cardiovascular disease fellowship training. Program highlights are exposure to diverse patient population, abundant pathology, dedicated and engaged faculty and opportunity for further training in Interventional cardiology (offered by the program) or cardiac electrophysiology, heart failure and heart transplant or imaging fellowship at other programs following categorical training. Fellows and faculty are actively engaged in scholarly activity with ongoing clinical research opportunities resulting in several abstract presentations at national and international scientific sessions and several peer reviewed publications.
