Special Degree Designations
The following Special Degree Designations are available while pursuing the DNP-AGACNP degree.
DNP with Distinction in Research
The Research Pathway of Distinction advances and promotes professional and career development for doctorally-prepared nurses who may be interested in pursuing additional education in research methodology, or who have demonstrated exceptional skill in research endeavors. Several areas exist in which primary research is lacking and the work done towards the DNP degree can fill that gap when necessary. The focus of the research is to provide evidence that can eventually be translated into practice or inform curricular design.
Upon completion of the pathway, students will acquire knowledge in research methodologies, implement and conduct a research study, and develop skills in scientific writing and the presentation of scholarly work. The distinction pathway will foster career development through scholarly achievements, presentation opportunities at regional and/or national meetings, and networking with current leaders in nursing research. Students who complete the pathway will have “Distinction in Research” added to their transcripts.
