Intersectionality Under the Microscope: Gender and Race in Health and Healing

This symposium highlighted the importance of applying intersectionality within healthcare settings. The keynote lecture discussed intersectionality theory and how to use an intersectional approach in healthcare settings, define the concept of gendered racism, discuss the impact of gendered racism on the mental and physical health of Black women, and identified strategies to engage in individual, community, and systems-level interventions to disrupt gendered racism and reduce health inequities within healthcare settings.
