Paula A. Johnson, MD, MPH, President of Wellesley College, will discuss a paradigm shift in medical research and clinical care: the realization that sex is a fundamental biological variable that has to be taken into account, if women's health is not going to be left entirely to chance. She will also consider the social variables that can affect biology such as gender, race, and ethnicity, and the importance of diverse leadership in science and medicine if we are going to achieve better health outcomes for all our population.
