Rosalind Franklin University Launches Giving Tuesday Campaign Supporting Free Healthcare Services for our Local Community

This Giving Tuesday (#GivingTuesday), Rosalind Franklin University (RFU) invites you to make a difference close to home. Your donation will support two vital programs: the Interprofessional Community Clinic (ICC) and Community Care Connection (CCC), both of which provide free, high-quality healthcare to underserved populations across Lake County.

These programs bridge critical gaps in access to care, offering primary care, vaccinations, podiatry, physical therapy, medication reconciliation, infectious disease testing, behavioral health counseling and health coaching, all at no cost to patients.

Student-founded and -led, the ICC is a weekly, pro bono clinic housed in the RFU Health Clinics adjacent to the university campus in North Chicago. The CCC extends health care beyond clinic walls with a mobile health vehicle and a fleet of electric SUVs, bringing compassionate care directly to those who need it most. For many, this outreach is truly life-saving.

“I see firsthand how grateful community members are to receive free, quality healthcare,” said Community Engagement Liaison Lorena Rodriguez. “Many wouldn’t have access to these services otherwise, and knowing we’re helping fill that gap makes this work deeply meaningful.”

RFU students also gain invaluable experience in interprofessional teamwork and community-centered care across the local community.

“Whether it’s managing daily operations, launching new initiatives or engaging directly with patients, it’s empowering to collaborate and turn ideas into tangible outcomes that truly benefit our patients,” said Lana Trautman, CMS ’28, president of the Interprofessional Community Initiative, which leads the ICC’s operations.

Your gift will ensure that these essential services continue to reach those who need them most and that the next generation of healthcare student leaders continues to learn through compassion and action. The campaign runs through Friday, December 12, 2025.

Join us this Giving Tuesday, and help us transform care in our community.
