Nasrin Haghighat, PhD


Dr. Nasrin Haghighat received her bachelor's degree in biological sciences in 1972 and her master's degree in embryology in 1974, in both from the University of Tehran. She received her PhD in developmental biology from Texas Women’s University in 1984.

From 1986 to 1989, she trained as a postdoctoral fellow at The Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in the Department of Biochemistry. From 1989 to 1994, she worked as a research associate at the University of Chicago in the Department of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Haghighat started at Chicago Medical School in 1994. She is highly active in research with many publications, mainly pertaining to the topic of the cytoprotective effect of estrogen on neurodegenerative disease. She teaches anatomy and histology and is the course director of Summer Anatomy.
