Department Research Initiatives

The DNP curriculum at RFU for nurse anesthetists is based on the principles of evidence-based practice and using the best evidence to inform those decisions. Students learn about research methodology, common statistical tests used in healthcare research, and how to critically evaluate research during Translational Research I and II. Then they move on to develop their own DNP project proposal that either synthesizes existing evidence, implements best practice, or generates new knowledge pertaining to an important topic in anesthesia.

Since we transitioned to the doctorate degree in 2017, the DNP cohorts have created excellent work that contributes to the body of anesthesia knowledge and curriculum development for the benefit of our program. Clinical partners have been an integral part to creating meaningful change and measuring outcomes among patients. That work is captured here based on the cohort in which the work was done.
