Deborah L. Faiman and Dr. Laurence R. Meyerson Microbiology and Immunology Student Travel Award
What is it?
This award is generously funded by Laurence R. Meyerson, PhD and Ms. Deborah L. Faiman. Dr. Meyerson, is an alumnus of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies whose background is in medical research and drug development. Ms. Faiman is a medical research philanthropist who for many years has maintained a keen interest in supporting the advancement of basic and applied research in a variety of medical areas. Dr. Meyerson and Ms. Faiman wish to continue to provide a supportive and enriching environment for future life scientists and physicians by establishing this travel award in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at RFUMS.
The Deborah L. Faiman and Dr. Laurence R. Meyerson Microbiology and Immunology Student Travel Award is a $1,000.00 award used to support the travel costs for a graduate student from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology to attend and present new scientific information at a relevant domestic scientific meeting.
What is the purpose of the award?
Recipients must use this award for travel and meeting costs to attend a scientific meeting to present scientific information, either in the U.S. or Canada.
Who is eligible for the award?
- All full time enrolled School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, students in the Microbiology and Immunology Department are eligible to apply.
- Applicants can be working on topics as they relate to basic or applied clinical research which encompasses basic and applied research related to lymphoma and/or post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLPD) and mechanisms of solid organ rejection.
What is the application process?
Applicants must apply to the Chair of Microbiology and Immunology Department for the award with details of the meeting, dates, abstract and how attending this meeting will enhance them.
The Chair will select the recipient of this award according to the above criteria.
