Executive Student Council President
Timothy (Tim) Nguyen, MS ’16, CMS ’20, was appointed student representative to the President’s Cabinet effective July 1, 2017. An active leader and member of several university organizations, Tim currently serves as president of the Executive Student Council. He previously served as co-president of the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, and vice president of the Student Interest Group in Neurology/Neurosurgery. Tim worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, as well as a tutor in physiology, cellular and molecular biology, and neuroscience.
A native of East Peoria, IL, Tim attended the University of Illinois, where he studied molecular and cellular biology and psychology. Following graduation, he spent a year working as laboratory manager for Arthur Kramer, PhD, at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC) Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. During his time at UIUC, Tim studied fluid intelligence in older adults utilizing exercise and simulation tasks, such as street crossing and driving. Tim also worked as a mental health associate at Unity Point Health–Methodist in Peoria, where he gained crucial skills in patient care and empathy that further affirmed his determination to become a healthcare provider.
Tim graduated with a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from RFU in 2016, and is a member of the Chicago Medical School Class of 2020. His career goal is to specialize in child neurology.
