John Edward Vitale, PhD, MHS, PA (ASCP)cm

Dr. Vitale is the Acting Dean of the College of Health Professions. He received his PhD in Interprofessional Healthcare Studies from Rosalind Franklin University in 2013 and his Master's of Health Sciences in Pathologists' Assistant Studies from Quinnipiac University in 2000. Prior to coming to Rosalind Franklin University in 2003 he was a clinical associate in the Department of Pathology at Dartmouth Medical School where he taught surgical and autopsy pathology to medical students and residents. 

Dr. Vitale served as the chair of the Pathologists' Assistant Department in the College of Health Professions for over a decade and was a national leader for his profession, having served as President of the Association of Pathologists' Assistant Training Programs for six consecutive terms. He has also served as a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Registry Certification Examination Committee and has a special interest in psychometrics and the application of the Rasch model of measurement to developing and refining assessment instruments for graduate medical education and the clinical training of other health professions students.

Dr. Vitale was the 2013 recipient of the Rosalind Franklin Award for Excellence in Teaching and has taught pathology and biomedical ethics to students from across the university.
