Manuscript Categories

Manuscripts will be considered within the following categories:

Original research

  • Includes: Descriptive, Historical, Quasi-experimental, Experimental, Qualitative, Quantitative, Correlational, Causal Comparative, Survey studies (with a high response rate), Observational studies.
  • Format: Must include abstract (limit 250 words).
  • Research outline format to include at a minimum: Hypothesis, Study Design and Methodology, Intervention, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.
  • Maximum length: 3000 words of text (not including abstract, tables, figures, acknowledgments, references) with a maximum of 5 tables and/or figures.

Thought Leadership

  • Includes: author opinions, commentary on current and /or emerging workforce issues.
  • Format: Must include a narrative abstract (limit 150 words).
  • Maximum length: 1500 words of text (not including tables, figures, acknowledgments, references) with a maximum of 5 tables and/or figures.

Educational Articles

  • Includes: Development, implementation, or evaluation of educational workforce curricular and/or approaches.
  • Format: Must include abstract (limit 250 words).
  • Outline format to include at a minimum: Problem Statement, Design, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.
  • Maximum length: 3000 words of text (not including abstract, tables, figures, acknowledgments, references) with a maximum of 5 tables and/or figures

Case Studies

  • Includes: Study describing implementation of workforce education and/or training in a specific market sector.
  • Format: Must include a structured abstract. Manuscript must follow a standard outline for case studies to include: introduction, case presentation, management and outcome, discussion, acknowledgements, references.
  • Length: 500 - 1500 words of text.

Systematic Reviews or Meta-Analyses

  • Includes: Detailed reviews/analyses of the literature relevant to workforce research and/or development of educational curricula.
  • Format: Must include abstract (limit 250 words)

Special Topics

  • Includes: Special themed issues may address current trends or emerging issues, workforce research and/or development, or other topic. May occur by invitation or solicitation on the Journal's website.
  • Format: Dependent on the topic requested abstract may be narrative or structured.
  • Maximum Length: 1500 words of text not including abstract, tables, figures, acknowledgments, references) with a maximum of 5 tables and/or figures.
