Interprofessional Education

The Institute is committed to Interprofessional education because research shows that the best patient care is rooted in healthcare teams and their ability to work together and communicate effectively across the entire healthcare infrastructure.

This means we must develop a framework that will help ensure that both the emerging workforce and the working learner populations develop the necessary competencies and skills that are nationally and internationally recognized. The Institute’s efforts connect how healthcare professionals learn with how healthcare professionals work.

The educational goals of the Institute are to identify, develop, manage and evaluate:

  • Research to inform curriculum
  • Align program of training with employer demand
  • Career mapping
  • In demand skills/certifications for students and working learners
  • Identification of emerging career and educational alignment
  • Development and implementation of tools for assessing competencies and skills demonstration for healthcare occupational roles
